The Man Behind the Media
Fred Mbesi is a passionate musician, composer, and leader rooted in the musical traditions of the Salvation Army. Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, Fred grew up immersed in the Army’s local music programs, which laid the foundation for a lifelong journey in brass banding and choral music.
He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Asbury University, where he studied trumpet with Dr. Jeff Barrington and composition with Dr. Adam Sovkoplas. Over the years, Fred has performed with a variety of bands and choirs and remains an active contributor to the Salvation Army’s musical mission.
Fred currently serves as the Regional Music Leader for the Greater New York Division of the Salvation Army, following five years in a similar role in the Eastern Pennsylvania & Delaware Division. He is a proud member of the New York Staff Band and Bandmaster of the Railton Brass Band, a divisional youth band for Greater New York.
A versatile composer, Fred’s works span genres—from brass and choral music for Salvation Army ensembles to scores for short films, orchestral works, jazz combos, and secular brass bands. In 2019, his original piece Radiance was named one of four winners in the Foden’s Band and Love Music Trust Composition Contest.

With every frame and every note, we push past the ordinary, lifting sound and story to their highest possible form. We are based in Hoboken, New Jersey.

We use a variety of programs to meet the needs of clients, such as Sibelius, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, iMovie, Adobe Audition, etc.
