Lament

A lament is a song expressing grief, suffering, or sadness. In this case, it addresses and expresses the pain, fear, and uncertainty
the composer, in addition to many around the world, is feeling in this climate due to life struggles, racial tensions, the unknowns of the future, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Amid the doubt and pain, there is hope in the form of God's faithfulness. We just have to continue placing our trust in Him through the ongoing storm. This is shown throughout the piece with the inclusion of fragments of "In Thee, O Lord" (T.B. 700) before a full statement of the tune at the piece's climax.
